HOME EDUCATE COLLEGE!
We have found an inexpensive way to get an accredited degree from home.
We sent Rachel to the ATIA Verity program's pilot program to learn to do this. (now close to $20,000) She began to teach seminars at the Homeschool Bookfair to teach others. We felt that many families lost their children when they went away for college, however, some advantages to having a degree are that it builds self confidence for your home educated child, many states are requiring that at least one parent have a degree to home educate, and it gives a student a hearing in our world today. It can be done from home!!!
We chose a Business degree because it is a marketable degree which has tests available for all requirements except one correspondence course.

I will outline for you what we do.
No SAT score is required to begin testing.
We begin by taking as many CLEP exams as possible before enrolling in Thomas Edison, so that we only have to pay 1 year of enrollment at Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison will not enroll a student until the age of 21. We have found that they will make an exception of 18 if the student has earned 30 credit hours.
We use the Official Clep Study Guide which is a sample of each of the 34 CLEP tests. This will let your student find out if he is ready to take the exam. You will not receive a grade, but simply a pass or fail report with your number score. Most tests must receive a 50 which is equivalent to what the average college student makes as a “C”. With good study guides, most students need no more than 2 weeks to study for a Clep exam. It is computerized and multiple choice (except for the English Comp) and if you do not pass it, you may take it again in 6 months. CLEP will “bank” your score for up to 20 years. When you enroll in a college you will have these credits transferred to the college of your choice. (If you are not planning to use Thomas Edison, which takes unlimited credit transfers, you should check with your college for the maximum number of allowable Clep transfer credits. Many local colleges will accept only 32 or less.
At the age of 15 or 16 we begin testing at our local college testing center. You must have a state issued ID, $85 ($15 of this is required in cash) for most colleges, and social security number for online test.
We begin with the Cleps that the particular child is most familiar with. If they have just completed Saxon Algebra 2, we take the Algebra Clep, if they have read all of the Henty history books, they take History. The first test should be a success for them.
We have many study guides available to help them efficencently study for most exams. I give them no more than 2 weeks to study for a test or I find that they waste time or get bogged down with it. They are only concentrating on one subject at a time, only need to pass with an average of a 50, and can re-take the test in 6 months if they do not pass.

Business Administration – BSBA Credit Distribution Requirements
**We chose General Management because this was the area that we could test out of the most courses.
General Management is a major area of study composed of a minimum of three of the four traditional areas of business—accounting, finance, management and marketing.
Students interested in having exposure to a number of business areas rather than focusing in depth
on one should consider this major area of study.
This major area of study requires that subjects from at least three of the four areas of accounting, finance, management, and marketing constitute the 18 s.h. in the major area of study.
